On Page Optimization Vs Off Page Optimization

On Page Optimization is what can be done on the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the on page content.

Whereas Off Page Optimization is what can be done off the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the on page content and keywords in off page direct links. Usually off page optimization is not visible on the website.

Both are important for SEO success.

On page optimization takes into account every effort you put to do changes in your website including altering a title tag, updating the meta tags, h1 tags, ALT tags, remove broken or dead links, add sitemap or even changing the actual text or internal links of your web page. Care should be taken not to build links too fast as they can be considered as spam by Google.

Off page optimization includes adding important keywords in links, links from high ranking publisher sites, one-way inbound links, deep linking, different keywords in your link-ads from the same site, gradual link building technology etc. Each link from an external website to yours is considered as a vote by the search engines.

You can do on page optimization as often and as easily as you’d like but off page changes are not decided by you.

On page optimization is just a part of the optimization process and will not guarantee your website a good ranking unless off page optimization is also in place.
