Meta Tag Optimization

META tags are HTML tags that are used to include information about your web page. A meta tag doesn't play any role to display the Web page in a browser window. But Meta Tag Optimization is an important part of SEO specially the keyword tag and the description tag are important from SEO perspective.

How Do They Affect Search Ranking?

When surfer searches the web with any keyword, some search engines rank the sites based on the Keyword and the Description tags. These tags help the search engine spider determine the content of your web site so that it can be indexed properly.

The Meta tags are placed within <head> and </head> tags and after title tag.

Meta Tag in HTML form:

<meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="information about your web page">
<meta name="KEYWORDS" content="keywords relevant for your site separated by comma.">


Instruction for Meta Tag Optimization:
  • Choose your relevant keywords.

  • Write the site's content based on these keywords.

  • Create a meta description tag also based on these keywords. Never insert the same keyword more than 3 times in this tag. Even if you have to include it 3 times make sure that you combine it with other words.
